Components

Oil Red O Solution 0.5%

Propylene Glycol 85%  Aqueous

Mayer’s Haematoxylin


Fixation

10% Buffered Neutral Formalin


Section

Paraffin at 6µm


Staining Procedure

  1. Deparaffinise and hydrate to distilled water.
  2. Stain in Oil Red O Solution for 72 hours.
  3. Agitate the slide in Propylene Glycol, 85% for 1 minute.
  4. Two changes of distilled water, 2 minutes each
  5. Stain in Mayer's Haematoxylin for 5 minutes. Wash in running water for 10 minutes.
  6. Mount with Glycerin Jelly
